SUMMARY:The Spiritual Nature of Dwellings
DESCRIPTION:Under the notion that everything matters, how do we design and build in harmonic relationships utilizing materials in particular dimensions and arrangements that help manifest dwellings as living therapeutic instruments that charge our batteries instead of drain our batteries?\nJoin LeVan as we explore the “spiritual” nature of dwellings and place, Axis Mundi and the Genius Loci the Romans called it…and how to work in accord with site, materials, design elements etc. and much else we are typically unaware of today in our efforts to reestablish homeland.\nLeVan will share some of his findings in Ghana and Burkina Faso West Africa in 1989/90 as part of his Fulbright research studying the Gurunsi people’s cosmological understanding of the world and how it was manifest in the building activity including land purification rites and the intentional construction methods and timings of these elaborate massive earthen architectures and their significance. If time allows he will also offer an evocation/ demonstration for the sanctification of a new building. These are methods and practices utilized in the establishment of Sustainable Settings ranch’s human settlement near Carbondale, Colorado a 244-acre Whole Farm Organism.\n
