October 20-22, 2023, Shining Mountain Waldorf School, Boulder, Colorado, USA
The Natural Building Alliance is now seeking presentation and workshop proposals for our upcoming Rocky Mountain Natural Building Conference. We plan to have several “breakout” presentations and/or discussions in an indoor classroom setting, and outdoor workshop-style activities similar to our conferences in the past. If you’d like to be a presenter or workshop host at this year’s conference, please read on and click on the button below to fill out a form.
General guidelines: Your presentation, discussion, or workshop should work with our Theme and Vision for the conference. The Conference planning committee will select proposals based on their alignment with the theme, and we favor educational content over self-promotion.
If your proposal is accepted, you will receive ONE free admission to the entire conference, including food and schwag.
Conference Theme: Our 20th Anniversary! Celebrating the Past, Present, and Future
Conference Vision: The Natural Building Alliance was founded in Boulder, CO and officially became a 501(c)(3) in 2003. Our first conference was in Boulder, and now we’re finally back to where it all began. Let’s reflect on all we’ve learned and accomplished, celebrate the present, and get excited about the future of natural building!
Some topics/ideas on our mind this year (hint, hint!):
The Past: Historical reviews of past/recent projects – what’s beautiful, and what needs some work
The Present: Gettin’ down to business: How to start and maintain a successful natural building/design company
The Future: Beyond the bale, Beyond the brick… Developments of technologies or methods that will improve the state of our art.
Proposal Deadline: May 14, 2023
Please submit your proposal by end of day on Sunday, May 14, 2023. The conference planning committee will review all submissions in May and will send acceptance emails as soon as we’re able. In some years in the past, we’ve received more proposals than we have room for at the event. Apologies in advance if we’re not about to accommodate everyone.
Indoor Presentation/Round-table Proposals: Presentations and Discussions will likely need to fit completely into a 1-hour time slot, which should include time for Q&A, social time, etc. Expect between 10 and 50 participants. We will have a screen set up and adapter cords to connect your personal laptop into. All rooms should have adequate power supplies if need be. We would appreciate if your presentation could be made available in the form of a static .pdf file or similar. Sharing this file with attendees will be your decision, but this file can also serve as a backup in case of last-minute mishaps. Please click on the “Presentation Proposal” button below to fill out and submit your proposal.
Hands-on Workshop Proposals: There is a large outdoor space at the school, adjacent to the main hall, which will allow for outdoor workshops and demonstrations. Workshop hosts will be responsible for set-up and clean-up of their workshops, although some volunteer help may be available. Workshops have the option of running for a short or long time slot. Keep in mind, the conference will go on rain (or snow!) or shine. In the event of inclement weather, we will do our best to provide extra pop-up tents, etc. to allow your activities to happen.
Please submit your proposal by end of day May 14, 2023.
