The Natural Building Alliance is now seeking presentation and workshop proposals for our upcoming Rocky Mountain Natural Building Conference. The Keynote speaker for this year’s conference will be Chris Magwood of the Endeavour Centre in Ontario, Canada. We plan to have several “breakout” presentations and/or discussions in the three rooms provided at the MARC, similar to our conferences in the past. This year, we also plan to have multiple on-site or off-site hands-on workshops, which could occur during the conference or perhaps a day before or after. If you’d like to be a presenter or workshop host at this year’s conference, please read on.
The Rocky Mountain Natural Building Conference will be held at the Moab Arts and Recreation Center in beautiful Moab, UT, USA — our first conference outside of Colorado, and home to Community Rebuilds. It will officially run from Thursday, March 26th through Saturday, March 28th. Our Keynote Speaker for the conference with be Chris Magwood of the Endeavour Centre, from Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. We can’t wait!!!
We’d like to thank everyone that came out to our Bale Stacking and Plastering Workshop back in May. The tumultuous spring weather held out for us and we had a great team for a day of fun. A big THANK YOU to Morgan Cate of Adaptive Habitats Construction and Dave Kaplan of Elevated Design-Build for letting us consume their Saturday.
COSBA will officially be changing its name to the Natural Building Alliance. Our mission, vision, and goals will remain much the same – just in an expanded format. In addition to straw bales, we’ll be honoring and advocating for ALL genres of natural building materials and methods: adobe, cob, hempcrete, timber, you name it.
Well COSBA had a very busy September, which included hosting a bale stacking workshop, attending the Higher Ground Fair in Laramie, and having a strawbale home featured in the Boulder Green Home Tour, hosted by the Colorado Green Building Guild. Check out their site and Facebook page for into and pics.
We hope that you’re all “making hay” so to speak, and enjoying the sultry days of summer (yes, it appears global warming is in full effect here on the Front Range of Colorado). For some, it’s the time of year when we’re too busy on projects to do much else. Here at COSBA, we have some exciting events to announce!
