Executive Director Position at NaBA

Are you interested in playing a key role in the global natural building movement?  Want to make a lasting impact on the construction industry to be more environmentally friendly?  Want to support a wonderful, passionate community of like-minded natural building enthusiasts?

The Natural Building Alliance (NaBA) is seeking a Part-Time Executive Director to lead our small but growing non-profit organization.  Our board is enthusiastic about implementing more projects, events, and programming.

NaBA is committed to expanding and sharing knowledge, experience, and techniques for sustainable building materials and systems. NaBA promotes quality building practices and serves as a resource to building professionals and homeowners.  We were founded in Boulder, CO in 2000 and gained 501(c)(3) status in 2003.  We host the Rocky Mountain Natural Building Conference, and have hosted many on-site natural building workshops and work parties throughout Colorado.  We mainly operate in the Rocky Mountain region, but seek to have a stronger national presence.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for our mission and a proven track record of success in event and membership promotion, education, fundraising, grant writing, and building partnerships with stakeholders.  To apply for this position, please email us and include a resume or equivalent information about yourself.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Orchestrate and implement strategic plans to achieve our organizational goals, including special events, fundraising efforts, donor cultivation, membership base, and grant writing.   
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including members, donors, volunteers, and community/industry partners  
  • Attend and help facilitate Board meetings 
  • Help organize, and attend/host NaBA conferences, workshops, and other events  
  • Attend industry-related promotional events 
  • Create and publish media campaigns including quarterly newsletters and social media posts 
  • Manage and expand website content and functionality 
  • Manage organization’s snail mail, email, messages, and phone, and respond to questions and inquiries 

 

 Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Experience in non-profit leadership or management OR 3+ years of business ownership OR 3+ years of working in the design or construction industry 
  • Experience with WordPress-type website management and content creation related to memberships, donations, event hosting, and educational articles, videos, webinars, and posts 
  • Experience with social media, Mailchimp, and spreadsheet and document software 
  • Proven track record of success in fundraising, grant writing, and building partnerships with stakeholders  
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff and volunteers  
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders 

 

 Terms and Compensation:  

  • Part-time, independent contractor position limited to 5 hours/week or 240 hours/year for the first year. 
  • $30/hr, or $7200/year maximum for the first year.  Future increases in hours subject to Board approval. 
  • Additional reimbursement for attending industry events subject to available funds and Board approval. 
  • Fully remote!  Choose your own working hours, but attend scheduled Board meetings and events.  You must have your own, self-funded workspace, equipment, and internet/phone service that enables you to successfully perform the work.  Some travel to industry events is possible, but not required. 
  • No included health or financial benefits.
